After some convincing, Will finally switched his day off for the twins' birthday trip. We usually ask the kids which theme park they want to visit since we live in Southern California. This time, Uncle Kev generously gifted us all with annual passes to Universal Studios Hollywood.

And our first visit to Hogwarts and Hogsmeade at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. If you haven't visited yet, be sure to. It's awesome sauce! "Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey" ride was very immersive, so much that I got motion sickness. Hubs took one look at the ride vehicles and thought they were like the Doombuggies at Disneyland. Um, no. I kept my mouth shut about our method of transportation-I'm a self-professed coaster and theme park geek and knew about the Robocoaster. Let's just say that hubs wasn't too pleased...

What's a robocoaster? The best way to describe it is to imagine being strapped to one of those auto plant robotic arm thingies, because that's exactly what they are. Then add the element of the robotic arms moving along a track. A word of caution: these arms are capable of delivering a full 360 range of motion-add 3d glasses to the mix and you've got a recipe for puking on the ride if you're prone to motion sickness. Just google "harry potter ride motion sickness" and you'll see what I'm talking about. I didn't last long. Made it through the ride through the Floo Network and the first couple of scenes and then I had to squeeze my eyes shut for fear of vomiting all over the place.
